VHS Direct-to-DVD Transfer Conditions:

Accepted Formats We accept VHS & VHS-C only for Direct-to-DVD transfers at this incredibly low rate.. If you have other formats we can upgrade you to our Value Transfers, or in certain cases we can do a direct-to-DVD transfer of other formats for a $5 per DVD surcharge above the posted rates. Check for details.

Duration. This method will produce its best quality results on a DVD of up to 1 hours worth of program content onto a single DVD, but good results can be obtained on durations up to 2 hours. We do not exceed 2 hours & .04 minutes onto a single DVD with these transfers

If you have tapes that run longer than 2 hours we can divide the program exactly in half to span two DVDs.. This essentially becomes two transfers, and so will be charged as such. For your second DVD we back up to a point approximately one minute before the first DVD’s cut-off point, thus ensuring that you do not miss any of your program.

If you do not know what is on the tape, we will transfer the tape’s entire recorded content. Duration charges will apply based this duration. If you only want a portion of the tape, say the first hour, then see editing below.

Editing. At this budget level of service we can offer no included editing or tidying up of the content whatsoever. Your tape will be checked at commencement and at intervals to ensure things are proceeding correctly, but your entire tape will not be watched right the way through with this level of service. The start & finish of your tape will not be able to be set frame-accurate, and will not be able to be trimmed after the fact, so you may end up with a small amount of blank screen, static or unwanted footage at the top & tail of your program. We will do our best.

NOTE ON EDITING: Say your tape runs 2 hours, and the end of it has some old unwanted footage, like an old movie off the TV. That will be transferred onto your DVD unless you have first watched the tape through and have alerted us to the fact that you only want a certain part of the tape transferred. We cannot know for sure what part of the program a client would want transferred, and the low pricing for this service does not allow for us to watch your tapes through and contact you to discuss what we’ve seen on it.. If you want to have us transfer only a part of a tape, then you’ll need to watch your tapes through & supply us with counter readings to indicate exactly which parts of the program content you’d like us to record, as well as written descriptions.

Here’s an example of what we would need:

Start point - 2 mins & 37 secs in - start recording from where we see the bride enter.
End point - 2 hours, 25 mins & 10 secs in - end recording after wedding car drives away.

With this service only one set of in & out points (hence one continuous video segment) will be transferred. If you have more than one segment you would like transferred to DVD you have entered the domain of (basic) editing, and you will need to choose our
Value transfers & extra editing. Also, simply saying something like “Please don’t transfer the TV show that comes after the home video footage” will not be detailed enough instructions for this level of service. We need to know in advance where on the tape the TV show will start, hence the requirement for counter readings. We can trim footage to this less exact type of instruction with our Value transfers, because we can still edit after the digitizing has taken place. This is because all the footage is on our workstation hard-drives.

If you are unable to view your tapes, then your choices are either to have us transfer the entire contents, or you’ll need to upgrade to our Value level service. The
Value service has our unique-in-the-industry “What’s On This?” option available, to cover instances where it is not possible for you to watch your tape through, where for a charge of $5.50 per tape (on top of your transfer costs) a skilled operator will take note of your tape’s content and report back to you what is on it (described to the best of our ability), then await your instructions before proceeding to burn your DVD. Extra editing charges may apply if your instructions are beyond the scope of what is offered within the pricing of our Value Transfers..
